Post Truth

Post Truth

po

Post truth means circumstances in which people are accept an argument based on their emotions and beliefs without any evidence or proof.People are believe in spoken tale or rumours rather than fact.

It is also popular proverb in Gujarati literature that:
          "Truth is always bitter".
So people can't easily catch or believe in real truth.people can easily connect with beliefs and rumours rather than truth.

Example:-

From Mahabharat statement 'नरो वा कुंजरो वा' also we can consider as an example of Post truth.

Thank you

Review of the film : lagaan

On the independence day of India, 15th August 2018 after flag-hoisting at university ground we have planned to watch “Lagaan – once upon a time in India” movie at our department. ● Cricket as Metaphor
● Subaltern
● Rural India
● Feminism
● Teamwork and Leadership
● Goodness of Britishers
● Language
● Dance style

Plot:

The film based on religion context.
It is based on Radha , Krishna and Rukmani. So here Radha compared with Elizabeth, Krishna compared with Bhuvan and Rukmani compared with Gauri. But here Bhuvan never fall in love with Elizabeth. He only loves Gauri. So Here is  slight diffence between Krishna and Bhuvan. Elizabeth loves Bhuvan and decide to not marry anyone. Elizabeth is like Radha. So the Base of the film is Religion.

Thinking activity on Dryden's essay of dramatic poesy

Dryden's essay of dramatic poesy

John Dryden was an English poet, literary critic, translator, and playwright who was made England's first Poet Laureate in 1668.

His work

-  the wild gallant a comedy
- the rival ladies a tragic comedy
- the Indian queen a tragedy
- the mistaken husband

1) do you find any difference between Aristotle definition of tragedy and Dryden's definition of play?

Aristotle definition in 3 parts :-
-lovely image of human nature
- represent passions & huma change of future
- delight and  instructions to mankind
deference Aristotelian tragedy's ends with catharsis, sadness and seriousness.
Drydens play ends with delight, humours and pleasure.

2) if you are supposed to give your personal predilection would you be on the side of the ancient or the modern? Give response.

Both are true and necessary on his place. I would like to be on the both side of modem as well as on the ancient. All .Are are necessary for  each other. Ancient represent real story and situation that era. and modern are imitate something from the ancient. they present something new way new ideas with present situation. WithoyW supppsu ancient modern not grow it more.

3)  do you think that the argument presented in favour of the french plays and against english plays are appropriate?

Paradise lost

John milton

John Milton was an English poet, polemicist, man of letters, and civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under its Council of State and later under Oliver Cromwell. He wrote at a time of religious flux and political upheaval, and is best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost, written in blank verse.

Works:-

1) Paradise lost (1667)
2) Paradise Rigained (1671)
3) samson agonistes (1671)
4) lycidas (1637)

Paradise lost is an epic poem in blank verse by john Milton. This poem based on the  biblical story. Milton writing something different than biblical story. God is not center point in book no 9. Paradise lost based on human perspective.

There are 3 main cgarachar in the paradise lost 1)  Adam 2) Eve 3) satan also God . God are flat character in Milton. Paradise lost book no.9 is see the change in tragic way.

Paradise book one to eight is happy story.  In the 1st part argument between eve and adam. Satire is highlight in this book. That book in not a Holly book but write as a literature. Milton draw eve character as a intelligent character. She is win to argument . She is very strong then adam . She is a powerful feeling. That is a miltons imagination.

1) write a critique on the  character of Eve.

Eve is the first woman created by God. Milton has presented character of Eve in a some different way than bible. She is main character in the Paradise lost. She is a strong and rational character. She is a very beautiful lady. She easily tempted by satan.
Eve have a lust for superiority. Eve first eats the forbidden fruit and then convinces adam to eat it. Eve is responsible for disobedience and thus fall of man.

2) whose arguments did you find more convincing?

According to me satan's arguments was more convincing than Adam and Eve. Because eve was easily convinced by satan knows some weakness of Eve. That's why he focus on Eve not Adam. Satan is powerful speaker in the paradise lost. Eve believe in Satan's arguments and convince to eat forbidden fruit. so Satan's argument is more convincing.

3) how do you look at divine perspective in the genesis of the holy and human perspective in John milton's paradise lost book IX?

Milton paradise lost and holy bible writen on different perspective.
Bible story justify the ways of God to man
God is center of bible. And adam and Eve are flat character.
In the milton's paradise lost in human nature is center. God is flat character in the paradise lost book IX. Human emotions and views are center. Not God. So milton write human perspective.

MARIO VARGAS LIOSA'S INTERVIEW

Mario Vargas Llosa, the Peruvian novelist, was awarded the Nobel prize for literature in 2010.
“ The Neighborhood” is his recent novel. He was considered as a “ noble Laureate” .
Here are some ideas which O like the most from the interview.
If you respect literature you must accept not only idealist, altruistic vision of human being but also the internal vision of them.
Georges Bataille said that in human beings there are Angels and devils. Sometimes the Angels are important, but for literature, Devils are important too.
History and literature both are very closely from each other, they are different faces of coin.
Literature reflects society and human being, what happens around us, that represented in it as a aim of better performance of human being on a stage like society.
Sartre’s ideas that words are acts and that you write things could make a difference in history or solve problems.
Writing as a tool for change. Writing is a way to participate in the creation of a different kind of society.
Llosa said that:
“ Today’s young generation give the importance to image more than ideas”.

Thank you

Thinking activity :Coleridge 's literaria Biographia

Coleridge

Biographia Literaria is the critical work by Coleridge it is contained in 24chapters. In this critical discussion Coleridge not only practice of criticism, but also with it’s theory. In chapter 14Coleridge’s views on nature and function of poetry is discussed in philosophical terms.

1) write in your words the difference between poem and prose.

According to me the difference between poem and prose decide by use of language, use of words. Generally we differentiates the two form for one is in rhyme and other does not. Which is in rhyme that is poem and latter be considered as prose. But this is not true. It is quality of words and how one has used it, that makes the lines poem or prose. Metre or rhymes have no roll in this matter. Sometime when we are reading prose work and some lines comes, words automatically comes, oh! what a poetic lines. These words have been no rhyme, they have been written in deeper condition of mind. And if during reading rhymed poem if we don't feel certain feelings it is not poem at all. Because poet has to do adding and removing of the words and it reduces naturalness. While in writing prose we can write naturally as words come. But the use of words should be poetic. So, use of words and it's effect upon readers decides work as poem or prose.

2) write in your words the difference between poem and poetry.

poem of the highest kind may exist without metre and even without the contradistinguishing objects of a poem" according to Coleridge the poem of any kind of length neither cam be nor ought to be poetry. it is " distinction resulting from the poetic genius itself ,which sustains and modifies the images , thoughts and emotions of the port's own mind."poetry in longer sense bring the whole soul of man. Poetry gives aesthetic delight.  Poetry something higher than poem.

Thank you..

Lyrical Ballads

The preface to the lyrical Ballads  written by WILLIAM Wordsworth. He discussed about what is poet rather  then who is poet and he also discussed about poetic diction, language of poem.

1) What is the basic difference between the  poetic creed of  classicism and romanticism?

There are two ideologies. We can say that, Romanticism is feel they are free to express in simple manner. It means, it is not necessary to follow classical rules of writing. Classicism and Romanticism are artistic movements that have influenced the literature, visual arts, music and architecture of the western world over many countries. In romanticism is celebrates all strong emotions, not just feeling of love. Classicism follow rules whereas   Romanticism were free from rules.

2) Why does Wordsworth say what is poet? Rather than who is poet ?

According to Wordsworth poet is a man; speaking to men, endowed with more lively sensibility, more enthusiasm and tenderness. Poet is reader of human Nature, he has knowledge about reader’s like and dislike. Poet is not as like common people, he is different than other mankind and he has more compressive soul. As Wordsworth said that Poet has great power to express his feeling and emotions. Through his/her imagination they can take away readers beyond this world. So Wordsworth says about characteristics of poet rather than who he is. Poet's ability and he describes quality of poet and he also makes poet different than other common people. So we can say that Wordsworth speaks about quality of poet so he says what is poet than who is poet.

3)what is Poetic diction? Which sort of poetic diction is suggested by Wordsworth in his preface?

watching second video we come to know that what is poetic diction. It is a choice of words, use of language, poet's own unique style of writing. Wordsworth believed in using lower class people's language. It fits well to the purpose of poetic pleasure. He said that rustic people are more genuine. But he also believes that it should be refined.
4)what is poetry?

Wordsworth's  definition of poetry  :
" Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings it takes origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity. "
Poetry is to teach moral lesson with a feeling of delight. It is to give instruction and delight by connecting people with the poet and his imagination.

5) Discuss 'Daffodils - I wandered lonely as a cloud with reference to Wordsworth's poetic creed.
Daffodils is the most famous example of Wordsworth's definition of poetry. Daffodils deal with four stanzas. First three in past and last in present poem. Lake poets are the very famous. He is always lap of nature. When he awakened mood he recollect the daffodils. Just look at the tenses of the poem. It would a great example of grammar, language and in the process. We look imagery of the poem.
